Economic Expert Witness for Personal Injury Case

To complete a personal injury report, we contrast what a person is likely to have earned over his/her lifetime under two scenarios: (1) how would earnings have progressed had (s)he not been injured on the date in question, and (2) what is the prognosis for earnings post injuries.  We would like to obtain as complete a description of the plaintiff as possible; earning potential depends on gender, ethnicity, educational attainment, occupation, and earnings history.  We augment any information that is uncertain or unknown with statistics based on other people similar to the plaintiff.  If all you need is an estimate to evaluate a settlement offer, you may opt for a preliminary analysis for our basic fee of $1500.  In the event that you wish to retain Dr. Carroll, we will apply the $1,500 and our basic analysis to our complete report.  If you want a report suitable for deposition or trial, you may wish to retain us.  Below is a breakdown of what you receive for each option.  After choosing the type of analysis you desire, please have your client complete the questionnaire.

1.We encourage potential clients to familiarize themselves with our final product and our report process. Our statistical analysis allows us to predict how earnings would have changed but for the damaging event, and how earnings are likely to change after that event. Life Care Plan

In many personal injury cases, a life care planner will provide a detailed list of current and future medical procedures and medication the injured person is likely to require over his/her lifetime. As economic experts we: (1) transform the current costs of those procedures or medication into future value using standard forecasting tools, (2) adjust those future values for the probability of survival and/or recovery, and (3) discount those future values to present value.  This information then helps the finder of fact at trial to determine the amount of money that the plaintiff needs to purchase financial assets whose interest and principal will provide a cash flow to cover those costs as they occur.

The information we require for a life care plan is minimal:

  • Name of victim
    • Date of Birth
  • Gender
    • Ethnicity (white, Hispanic, black, Asian, other)
  • Does the person's medical
    condition affect their life
    expectancy or survival
    probability, if so, how?

If there is a lifecare plan associated with this case, please be sure to provide a complete copy of the life care plan and, if relevant, the estimates from another economic expert if you are requesting a critique or rebuttal report.
